The striking yellow Montblanc pen is adorned with references to the life of Enzo Ferrari
Few names in the automotive world command as much reverence as Enzo Ferrari. A former race car driver turned entrepreneur, Enzo Ferrari founded Scuderia Ferrari in 1929 before establishing Ferrari S.p.A. in 1939. Under his leadership, Ferrari dominated motorsport for decades, securing its first Formula One World Championship in 1952, before cementing itself as the recognisable icon it’s become today.
With a legacy like that, it’s only natural Enzo Ferrari has a place in the pantheon of great historical figures memorialised in Montblanc’s Great Characters series. Montblanc’s latest tribute, the Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition Giallo Modena, captures his impact through thoughtful design and meticulous craftsmanship.
This, of course, is not the first time Montblanc has collaborated with Ferrari. Previous releases like the Stilema SP3 Limited Edition 599 from 2021, drew inspiration from Ferrari’s cutting-edge design and engineering excellence. This latest edition, however, focuses on the man himself, offering a glimpse of Enzo Ferrari’s life, heritage, and enduring impact.
Finished in a striking Giallo Modena yellow, a nod to Ferrari’s birthplace, the pen’s silhouette takes inspiration from the Ferrari 500, the model that clinched Scuderia Ferrari’s first Formula One World Championship. The cap is engraved with Ferrari’s Prancing Horse emblem alongside a quote from Countess Paolina di Biancoli, who first suggested Enzo Ferrari adopt the symbol in 1923. Other design elements—such as the six parallel lines on the clip, referencing a Ferrari V12 engine—further reinforce the connection to Ferrari’s engineering prowess.
Beyond aesthetics, the pen’s ruthenium-coated cone is engraved with two key dates: Ferrari’s birth in 1898 and his first race victory in 1923. Even the Montblanc emblem, set in a vintage car grille motif, reflects the era that shaped Ferrari’s journey. To complete the experience, Montblanc has also released a yellow Giallo Modena notebook and a deep purple ink.
