Le Labo’s Osmanthus 19–part of the brand’s City Exclusive Collection–brings the essence of Kyoto to Singapore
Le Labo has long treated fragrance as a medium for place and memory, nowhere more clearly than in its City Exclusive Collection. First conceived as an homage to the cities that have shaped the brand’s journey, these fragrances are typically available only in the cities they were created for—no shipping, no exceptions. Once a year, however, during Le Labo’s City Exclusive event, from 1 August to 30 September, they are released worldwide, allowing collectors a fleeting chance to experience them without having to cross borders.

This year, the spotlight falls on Kyoto, a city that embodies the brand’s guiding principles of impermanence, simplicity, and craft. With Osmanthus 19, Le Labo captures the spirit of the ephemeral flower that blooms briefly in early winter when most of nature lies dormant.
The fragrance opens with incense and lavender, a meditative overture that immediately evokes Kyoto’s temple courtyards. Soon after, the osmanthus reveals itself—creamy yet delicate, luminous but never overwhelming. Resinous, woody notes follow, lending a subtle gravity that recalls the city’s architectural harmony, where ancient machiya houses coexist with steel and neon.
If Tokyo’s Gaiac 10 is smoky and restrained, Kyoto’s Osmanthus 19 is more lyrical. It is a fragrance that stays close to the skin, less about projection than about presence. Think quiet, personal poem rather than a public performance.
