Range Rover strikes again with a continuation of its high-performance SUV, the Sport SV EDITION TWO

What’s new for EDITION TWO? Not much, honestly, other than the launch of four new colour themes; each theme is a blend of a unique exterior paint with added carbon fibre finishers. Oh, and that we can now order one.

“For the first year, it was initially only open to clients by reservation. Today we announce the next step in our SV line-up, Range Rover Sport SV EDITION TWO, available with new design themes which offer our discerning clients the chance to enjoy four distinct characters of our high-performance luxury SUV,” shares Geraldine Ingham, Range Rover’s managing director.

Beneath the hood, the same beastly engine remains: a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V-8, pushing 626 horses and 750 Nm torque. According to spec sheets, Range Rover claims a century sprint timing of 3.8 seconds–that’s impressive. Top speed is said to be 290 km/h, though we’ll probably not be testing that out.

Boasting a myriad of performance-enhancing tech applied, this model retains its status as the most powerful Range Rover Sport to date. Most notable features include the use of carbon fibre for weight reduction (carbon fibre is known to be the lightest material, albeit one that’s still ‘strong’ enough to withstand high-speed racing), this model comes standard with the top-spec suspension system in its class, and of course, enhanced aerodynamics to allow optimal airflow.

This may not be a typical car to bring to the tracks, but hey, who’s making the rules? Trackies will appreciate some of the Sport SV’s interior design features. SV Performance seats feature carbon fibre backboards (again, weight reducing). Additional sculpted bolsters in both the front seats mitigate slipping and sliding around during high-performance driving. A redesigned steering wheel proffers more pronounced thumb grips and a thicker rim.

If you’re in the mood for a spirited drive, you can tap the illuminated button on the steering to activate the SV Mode. The car jumps right into configuring itself for maximum optimised performance, and you’ll notice that the illuminated plus and minus symbols on either side of the paddles transforms from white into a red hue. For the initiated, a long press of the Mode button triggers a Configurable Dynamics screen for you to fine-tune the car’s handling and dynamic features to best suit your preferences.

For now, launch dates and pricing information has yet to be released, but you can register to be notified of future confirmed availability via Land Rover’s website here.
