Dyson’s new Find+Follow Purifier Cool cleans the air, tracks where people are, and sends relief accordingly, which makes it a rather welcome new colleague in our stubbornly under-cooled corner of the office
Ever since the Robb Report Singapore team moved into our new digs at The Mill, we have been enjoying the sort of office that looks excellent in photographs. In practice, however, our cosy little nook has also developed a secondary personality trait: it appears to exist just beyond the meaningful reach of the air-conditioning. Dressing for work has therefore become a small but calculated exercise in risk management: something polished enough for the office, but breathable enough that one does not quietly wilt at one’s desk by mid-afternoon. So when Dyson offered to send over its new Find+Follow Purifier Cool, I jumped on it.

The headline feature here is exactly what the name promises. The machine uses intelligent sensing to detect where people are in the room, then directs purified air accordingly, rather than just blasting it stoically into empty space like a conventional fan with no sense of occasion. In Dyson’s words, it tracks movement through a 17-key-point user detection system, allowing the airflow to follow you as you shift from desk to desk, or simply fidget your way through the afternoon.
Naturally, the first reaction during unboxing was not delight, but suspicion. As I enthusiastically explained the machine’s finding-and-following technology, this was swiftly met with the kind of alarm usually reserved for group chats and accidental reply-alls: does it store what it sees? Is it watching us? Mercifully, no. Dyson says the system recognises movement, not identity; images are processed in real time, not stored, and not uploaded.
That reassurance matters, because this is a genuinely clever piece of domestic engineering dressed up for modern life. Beyond the tracking function, it also offers HEPA H13-sealed filtration, captures odours, VOCs and ultrafine particles, monitors pollutants including PM2.5, PM10 and formaldehyde, and can be controlled via the MyDyson app.

Most importantly, it has made our corner of the office feel noticeably less like a beautifully appointed greenhouse. For S$999, the Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool may not solve every workplace grievance, but it does address one of the sweatiest.
