Debuted at the Cannes Yachting Show 2025, the Sanlorenzo SD132 embodies the shipyard’s innovative spirit
Ingenuity and innovation are prized qualities in any arena. But when applied to an industry as traditionally slow-moving as yachting, they become increasingly rare and valuable assets. The pursuit of progress, however, is often cyclical, defined through bursts of creativity that inevitably give way to periods of stillness.
If Sanlorenzo’s SD132 is anything to go by, the Italian shipyard appears to be immune to such creative lulls. Recently debuted at the Cannes Yachting Show, the 40.7-metre vessel is a distilled expression of the shipyard’s unyielding pursuit of spatial ingenuity and refined design. Even before touching the water, the yacht—Sanlorenzo’s largest semi-displacement model—had secured multiple orders from discerning owners drawn to the principles that underpin it.
It should come as little surprise. One of the world’s most consistently forward-thinking shipyards, Sanlorenzo has long cultivated a reputation for restraint, elegance, and a thirst for innovation. Combine that heritage with the creative sensibilities of long-time collaborator Zuccon International Project, and the outcome feels almost inevitable. Together, they have once again produced a vessel that exudes sophistication, rendered through intelligent proportions, spatial clarity, and innovative design.
The first thing you’ll notice about the SD132 is its size. This, of course, is the largest composite-built yacht Sanlorenzo has ever produced. For context, the SD132 measures around three metres longer than its predecessor, the SD126. What is most impressive here, however, is the leap in volume. Despite its modest growth in overall dimensions, the SD132 achieves a significant gain in internal capacity—rising from 314 to 420 gross tonnage—through an entirely reimagined approach to circulation and layout.
Central to this is the SD132’s asymmetrical architecture, a concept pioneered by Sanlorenzo, which allows for a full-beam saloon on one side and a dedicated walkway on the other, reclaiming valuable interior space that would otherwise be lost to passageways. The result is a living environment that feels fluid, open, and constantly in conversation with the sea.
This architectural rigour allows for optimised onboard spaces that maximise the yacht’s interior volumes. On the main deck, the owner’s suite occupies the forward section, while an expansive salon is framed by large windows that flood the interior with natural light. A second salon, located on the upper deck, complements the first and offers a more private retreat with elevated views.
The exterior spaces offer the same sense of openness. While the vessel, with its clean straight lines and tri-deck structure, presents an imposing presence, it is the subtle nuances that imbue it with true sophistication. At the stern, folding terraces open outward to form a 70 sqm beach area, merging the aft cockpit and swim platform into a single, unobstructed expanse over the water. Beyond its scale, the beach area provides a versatile space for lounging or play, seamlessly connecting the onboard experience with the surrounding seascape.
Above, an 85 sqm flybridge expands the living area into the open air, its forward section designed for a crystalline mini pool framed by integrated sun pads. More than that, the vessel boasts a side garage capable of accommodating a 6.25m tender, reflecting a level of design sophistication typically associated with larger vessels.
As expected from a Sanlorenzo semi-displacement vessel, the SD132 offers robust performance on the water. Boasting a maximum speed of 17 knots, the vessel has an impressive range of 3,200 nautical miles, allowing you to embark on transoceanic journeys. Couple that with its expansive and stylish interiors, superb seaworthiness, and open living areas, and you have a vessel poised to captivate every kind of owner.
