Napa Valley Wine Train

Founded by the late Vincent DeDomenico in the early ’80s, the Napa Valley Wine Train offers the quintessential Napa Valley experience from the comfort of a luxurious antique Pullman train. As it continues to preserve the railroading traditions that once defined the American landscape, it has 14 different journeys to choose from, each experienced in one of two different trains, year-round. Those interested in grape stomping can partake in the age-old maceration method at Grgich Hills Estate, which comes with a festive wine tasting post-stomp as well as a multi-course lunch onboard the train. Equally special is the Midnight in Paris New Year’s Eve celebration, featuring a six-hour excursion through wine country, three-course breakfast and lunch, wine tasting and the 3pm Paris ball drop.

Orient Express

Just this year, the Accor-owned luxury train company unveiled new golf-focused itineraries for the 12-carriage La Dolce Vita Orient Express. Created in partnership with the Italian Golf Federation (FIG), the two adventures were designed to help cement Italy as a top golfing destination by showcasing the best courses the boot-shaped country has to offer. Debuted in October, the Northern Greens itinerary includes stops at four renowned golf clubs in the north of the country (the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club and Franciacorta Golf Club, for example), and kicking off this month, the Italian Swing voyage spotlights the central and southern regions of Italy. Golfers will have the opportunity to tee off at the San Domenico Golf Club in Puglia, the Club at Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany, and the Argentario Golf Club. The latter is Italy’s only PGA-licensed facility.
