Instant Gratification
Think of Leica and you’ll automatically think of ultra-serious cameras, like the legendary M-series models.
In recent times, Leica has proved that it’s shy of venturing into more enthusiast markets, with models like the Leica C. With the Sofort, however, Leica is taking that one step further, being it’s the German manufacturer’s first instant camera.
Being an instant camera, ‘fun’ is the name of the game with the Instax, available in three colours (white, orange and mint) and a range of matching accessories including straps, carrying cases and boxes to store your snaps.
On the technical front, the Sofort uses Instax Mini-compatible film, and Leica sells them in a 10-exposure pack, or in a 20-exposure double pack. Colour and monochrome film packs are available.
The Sofort has a fixed 60mm focal length, and a shutter is capable of speeds between 1/8 and 1/400 of a second. Users after the flexibility of other Leica cameras won’t find it in the Sofort, though it does have several mode presets for macro and action photography, amongst other scenes.
As with any good instant camera, the Sofort has a built-in flash and a mirror on the front to better help frame selfies.
The Sofort is available at all Leica boutiques and is priced at $425, with accessories sold separately.
