This new private golf and lifestyle club is set to open in west LA later this year

By Rachel Cormack 20 August, 2026

Stableford will offer one of the largest indoor putting greens in the state plus eight golf simulator lounges

Sanjay Mattela and Drake Walker saw a hole—or 18, perhaps—in the West Los Angeles market: No new private golf club has opened on the Westside in more than 50 years, even though the city of L.A. itself has one of the highest concentrations of golfers in all of California. That led the duo to create Stableford.

Named after golf’s primary points-based scoring system, the new private golf and lifestyle club offers sport, wellness, and hospitality all under one roof.

“Stableford started with a simple question: what would the best indoor golf experience feel like if it were designed with the same care as a great hotel, custom home, or members’ club?” Walker said in a statement. “Golf is the foundation, but the golf experience at Stableford is really a lifestyle experience built around the game.”

Situated along the Brentwood-Santa Monica corridor, the private clubhouse spans 13,000 square feet and was designed by New York-based interiors firm Mazzarini & Co. It is decorated more like a living room than a conventional sports facility, with a warm palette, rich leathers, and cosy rugs. Service will be akin to a members’ club, though, with the general manager recruited from the Bel-Air Country Club.

As for golf, Stableford will be outfitted with eight spacious TrackMan simulator lounges and one of the largest indoor putting greens in the state. The club’s director of golf, Lucas Wald, who is a swing coach with a roster of high-profile clients, will offer private on-site coaching for members looking to level up their game.

Between rounds, members can hit the private wellness suites to relax and recharge. Each one will include cold plunges handmade in the U.S., traditional Finnish saunas, and large-format red light therapy panels. Yoga equipment, massage tools, and stretching bands will also be on hand.

“Our vision was a club for a different kind of golfer,” Mattela explains. “Younger, active, wellness-oriented, more design-forward, more interested in experiences that feel elevated without feeling formal.”

Food and drinks will be served up around the clock, too. The day starts at the espresso and smoothie bar, which is stocked with fresh pastries sourced daily from nearby bakeries. Then, the all-day counter will offer a seasonally rotating menu built on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, with dishes such as poke bowls, sushi, wraps, and sandwiches that can be eaten between sessions. In the evening, the focus is the bar. The cocktail programme will be crafted by one of Employees Only’s principal bartenders, ensuring top-notch tipples round after round.

Stableford’s cultural programming includes member events, golf leagues, and game nights, as well as culinary experiences and destination golf trips to other exclusive clubs. The idea is that the club is not only for the weekend, but for morning practice sessions, evening games, and post-play drinks.

“We want Stableford to be the most fun place in Los Angeles to golf, have a drink, and spend time with friends on any given night,” adds Mattela. “It’s built around the full rhythm of a golfer’s life, not just the four hours they spend playing.”

Construction is currently underway, with the club expected to open later this year. Membership will be intentionally capped at a few hundred and offered by invitation after review by the Stableford team. Prospective members can submit interest through Stableford’s website. A limited number of founding memberships are being offered with pricing shared directly with those individuals.
