The resort promises a refreshing island experience

Anyone who’s ever been on a rejuvenating island getaway can attest to the undeniable pleasure of lounging on white sandy beaches while the rhythmic sound of crashing waves induce a leisurely repose. While destinations like Maldives and Seychelles possess a sparkling reputation in delivering such experiences, more than a few locations are steadily emerging as worthy alternatives. Among them is the closer-to-home, quieter island of Lombok. The Indonesian island has seen substantial development over the past decade, enticing several hospitality brands to establish lush properties near the coastline.

Now, one more can be added to the list. The Sira—the latest resort from Marriott’s The Luxury Collection—has opened its doors right on the coastline of Sire beach. Just a 90-minute drive from the Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport, the resort is imbued with the island’s storied heritage, evinced by the handwoven tenun ikat fabrics from Lombok and intricate teak lattice walls that adorn the property.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the opening of The Sira, a Luxury Collection Resort and Spa, Lombok, a property that exemplifies our brand’s commitment to delivering rare, unforgettable experiences in the world’s most captivating destinations,” says Philipp Weghmann, vice president and global brand leader of The Luxury Collection. “The resort is set to become Lombok’s newest gem.”

While the resort offers an array of accommodation options, the resort’s unique 1,400 sq m Beach House—a three-bedroom villa that opens to a private plunge pool—is of note, especially for family vacationers. Those seeking a more elevated and exclusive retreat should, of course, opt for The Sira’s Presidential Suite, a two-storey abode decked with a full-sized rooftop infinity pool and three bedrooms.

The rooms, sporting traditional Indonesian crafts and offering idyllic views of the beach, appear to offer a serene respite for those who prefer to stay in. Those who muster up the drive to roam, however, can explore the resort’s three restaurants which serve everything from Asian cuisine to Mediterranean flavours. If a new culinary experience is not a non-negotiable for you, then perhaps the resort’s spa—fitted with five private rooms where guests can experience holistic herbal treatments—will be for choice. While there, you’ll be attended to by expert therapists who will offer therapeutic spa treatments with rare aromatic oils and herbs designed to rejuvenate.
