The world’s most expensive perfume will set you back €200,000

Bvlgari Opera Prima

the Bvlgari Opera Prima boasts notes of lemon, orange blossom and musk, and was crafted to celebrate the luxury brand’s 130th anniversary

After sitting for four years in a display case at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann in Paris, the Bvlgari Opera Prima has finally been sold. The only one of its kind, the scent – created by master perfumer Daniela Andrier – was unveiled in 2014 to celebrate Bvlgari’s 130th anniversary (as well as high-end Italian craftsmanship) and was crafted to smell like a Mediterranean summer, with notes of lemon, orange blossom, musk and cypress.

Missed your chance to get your hands on this intoxicating scent? Perhaps the brand will create another for its 200th anniversary

Of course, the value of the Bvlgari Opera Prima is not just in the elixir but in its vessel. Created by master glassmaker Venini from Murano, the flacon was inspired by a Roman amphora – an ancient container mainly used to transport wine – and is decorated with 250 carats of citrine, 4.45 carats of amethyst, 25 carats of diamonds and finished with gold leaf. The price for all this decadence? A mere €200,000 (S$324,000).
