The demand for ultra-luxury hotel penthouses and suites for one-percenters and A-listers looking for a Champagne and caviar getaway has never been higher. It’s why the world’s top hospitality brands keep upping the ante.
“Ultrahigh-net-worth travellers are drawn to spaces that speak to their individual styles and interests,” says Kimberly Denison, founder of luxury travel agency Denison Travel. “Suites that offer opulence, a look into the unique history of a place or property, and luxury on their own terms remain in high demand.”
With these mega-suites rivaling the size of many mere mortals’ homes, Sunil Metcalfe, sales director at Black Tomato, points to the cachet of having lots of space to enjoy time with family and friends in an otherwise cramped cosmopolitan locale. He also notes the challenge hotels face in creating rooms better than the homes of their guests. “A client once told me, ‘Never book a bedroom worse than your own,’” he says.
