A highly-reflective, mirror-like suitcase by Rimowa and Moncler
Why you should care: Elevating the art of refined travel to new heights, Rimowa’s latest collab with Italian luxury label Moncler sees the release of a glossy, mirror-like suitcase. Fittingly dubbed the Moncler Rimowa Reflection, its reflective, ultra-polished aluminium exterior is inspired by Rimowa’s iconic Cabin suitcase and Moncler’s lacquered-down jackets. It comes with matte-black handles and riveted corners, and is lined with Moncler’s signature nylon fabric. Embedded within the exterior grooves is a specially-designed metal badge that seamlessly incorporates the motifs of both brands. The limited-edition suitcase retails online and at all Rimowa and Moncler’s physical boutiques for S$4,280, and includes a set of exclusive silver packing cubes, as well as a dark grey luggage tag and belt designed by Moncler.
Urwerk debuts the UR-220
Why you should care: Urwerk has expanded its UR-Satellite collection with the debut of the UR-220. Like its predecessors, the timepiece has a skeletonised dial which affords an unobstructed view of Urwerk’s signature Wandering Hours complication – three rotating cubes indicate the hours, while a large pointer sweeps across the minute scale and snaps back to zero at the end of each hour. On the caseback, the watch features an oil change indicator which tracks its accumulated running time over 39-day intervals. Made of a special ultra-thin carbon composite, the UR-220 is paired with a black rubber strap and retails for CHF145,000 (S$216,314).
67 Pall Mall’s new book is everything a gourmand needs
Why you should care: The world’s first private member’s club for wine lovers, 67 Pall Mall has launched a new book that delves into the art of wine pairing. Wine and Food. The Perfect Match is a comprehensive study of the world’s great wines, with lessons on wine appreciation and the best ways to nail a wine pairing. Written by the club’s head of wine Ronan Sayburn, the first half of the book is an in-depth guide into everything wine-related, and is followed by 100 recipes created by Marcus Verberne, along with Sayburn’s recommended wine pairings for each dish. The book retails for S$70 and is available on either 67 Pall Mall’s online website or at the Orchard Road Kinokuniya bookstore.
Hermès partners with Apple for the new Apple Watch Hermès Series 6
Why you should care: Since its inception in 2015, the Apple Watch Hermès Series has been synonymous with functionality, innovation, craftsmanship and style. For the sixth edition of this successful collaboration between Hermès and Apple, the French Maison has introduced a new, fully customisable Hermès Circulaire watch face, paired with a sleek Hermès Attelage leather strap that gestures towards the Maison’s equestrian heritage. Single tour straps, made of Fauve Barénia calfskin, have also been updated with bold and vibrant hues, ranging from bright orange to fiery amber.
Soneva Fushi is set to open the world’s largest overwater villas in the Maldives
Why you should care: Occupying a pristine island in the Maldives, the Soneva Fushi resort is set to open eight of the world’s largest overwater villas by the end of September 2020. Each villa comes with signature Soneva elements such as a retractable roof in the master bedroom for stargazing and a two-story water slide that drops you into the ocean. Each one-bedroom villa is priced at US$2,626 (S$3,568) per night, while a two-bedroom villa starts at US$5,232 (S$7,110).
Audemars Piguet releases a limited-edition Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon GMT
Why you should care: The Swiss luxury watchmaker has recently released a limited-edition version of the Royal Oak Concept, exclusive only to Southeast Asia. The timepiece comes in a sandblasted 18-karat pink gold case, topped with a satin-brushed and polished octagonal bezel in grey ceramic. And the flying tourbillon at 9 o’clock is clearly seen through the watch’s open-worked dial, along with the exposed movement’s pink gold-toned inner bezel and hands. Only 20 pieces of the timepiece will be produced and made available across Audemars Piguet boutiques in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
Sony’s Alpha 7C is the world’s smallest and lightest full-frame camera
Why you should care: Part of the electronic giant’s Alpha line of interchangeable-lens cameras, the new Alpha 7C is also its smallest and lightest yet, weighing just 510 grams. Fitted with a 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor, it has a maximum ISO sensitivity of 204,800 and is able to shoot 4K videos with ease. The camera features a retro-inspired design in either black or silver, and is now available for pre-orders. The body alone will cost S$2,499, while a kit that includes an SEL2860 lens will be priced at S$2,899.
