Bamboo 1947: Then and Now

It’s been 60 years since Gucci was introduced to Japan in 1964. In celebration of this milestone, the Maison is launching a new exhibition dedicated to the Gucci Bamboo 1947 bag, which has been reinterpreted by every Gucci creative director since its launch in 1947. In the exhibition, Bamboo 1947: Then and Now Celebrating 60 years of Gucci in Japan, the spotlight will be on 60 of these vintage bags from the ’80s and ’90s, each revitalised by a group of artisans—goldsmith Morihito Katsura and his pupil Naoko Ai, ceramist Nakazato Hirotsune and photographer Daido Moriyama, to name a few.

The exhibition will be held at Gucci Ginza Gallery in Tokyo from 2 August to 23 September 2024. Admission is free.
