The wearable-tech brand is trying to make smart rings a little chicer

The world’s first luxury smart ring is here—or so the company Ultrahuman says.

The brand has just unveiled its Rare smart ring, which is hand-crafted with some of the earth’s most precious metals, Digital Trends reported on Tuesday. Ultrahuman showed off the new piece of wearable tech at CES in Las Vegas, and it will first become available in the United Kingdom and France, before hitting the US market.

The Rare rings have been created in three desert-inspired colorways: Desert Rose, which features 18-karat rose gold and a brushed finish; Desert Snow, made of PT950 platinum; and Dune, with 18-karat gold and a brushed finish. Ultrahuman says that every ring is hand-crafted using special metalworking techniques, Digital Trends noted, contributing to a price tag of about US$1,865 to US$2,250, depending on the style.

As for the smart features of the ring, those are similar to the ones found in Ultrahuman’s Ring Air. With sensors that track motion, skin temperature, and heart rate, the ring can assess everything from your stress levels to the quality of your sleep. Using the data it collects, the wearable can assist you with dynamic recovery, help get you moving more, and even assess your caffeine levels for better productivity and sleep management.

While all users of Ultrahuman’s rings receive those benefits, the Rare rings come with special perks, including lifetime access to UltrahumanX, the company’s benefits and coverage programme. It also gives you free access to the brand’s current and future PowerPlugs, which allow you to customise your experience with add-ons like cardio adaptability and Vitamin D tracking. The water-resistant ring clocks in at eight millimetres wide and 2.45 millimetres thick. And with up to six days of battery life, it’ll last you almost the full week on a single charge.

Ultrahuman’s latest release is a luxe take on a popular accessory in the wearable-tech space. When it comes to smart rings, the leader may still be the Oura Ring, which has been around for years at this point. Samsung has also come out with its own version of the tech-forward jewellery. And while those brands may be better known than Ultrahuman, the latter is innovating in the industry with the addition of high-end materials to match its high-end tech.
