Following a record sale, a pair of connected, renovated rentals with 2,197 square metres of five-star services is yours for the taking

Ever wonder what the most exclusive vacation home in the ski mecca of Vail, Colorado, will set you back in the middle of the winter high season? Turnst out it’s a cool US$139,000.

That may sound steepish, but the outlay gets you five nights and not one, but two interconnected houses. Dubbed Ethos and Opus, they’re part of the Apex Collection and are available for rent this winter season for the first time since joining the exclusive portfolio. Need proof you’re getting the best? Opus sold for US$57.25 million in 2020, the most expensive home sale ever in Vail, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Together, the properties come in at roughly 2,193 square metres on a prime vantage overlooking Vail Village’s Gore Creek Drive. A portion of those plots, which were originally developed by the families of publishing giants Webster and McGraw-Hill, can be rented for a lower rate if less space is needed (US$22,000 per night). But its not just the space you’re paying for; it’s the services.

“The curated experiences we offer are alike to that of European ski chalets, but elevated to the next level,” says Mike Connolly, general manager of Triumph Mountain Properties, the company that manages the homes.

With nine bedrooms and 15 bathrooms, Opus recently underwent a US$5 million renovation that included furniture upgrades, new decor, and art throughout the 1,394-square-metre home. A state-of-the-art fitness studio and a fully stocked ski and game room were also added. The indoor pools (Opus has two) received a refresh, too. Ethos, meanwhile, sleeps 12 and has 795 square metres.

The rental comes with a butler and all the ski essentials and equipment needed for the snowy season. First tracks at Vail and nearby Beaver Creek can be arranged for guests, as can excursions into the area’s famed back bowls and Alpine meadows.

Aprés ski includes a dinner helmed by Michelin-starred chef Charlie Palmer or Top Chef alums Bryan Voltaggio or Elizabeth Falkner. Champagne sabering, caviar tastings, and wine-paired dinners, which might include bottles from Silver Oak, Canard, and Gargiulo, are led by Apex’s very own sommelier.

Guests wanting to leave the luxury compound to explore the greater Vail area can arrange for either a Range Rover Velar SV Autobiography Dynamic or Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged LWB.

If all the fun has left you wilted, massages are available in-house, as well as yoga classes (with epic views, natch) and meditative, therapeutic sound baths led by trained therapists.

It’s a (snow) ball.
