This July and October, hop on a Belmond train and indulge in delicious vintages, fine dining and spectacular scenery
As time flies and ‘slow’ becomes the new luxury, the glamorous, old world of train travel appeals to one even more. It brings you to places and sceneries other modes of travel can’t offer, whether it’s through an untouched jungle of Malaysia or the breathtaking beauty of Peru’s most spectacular sunrises. Bonus points if it’s a luxurious overnighter, like Belmond. Extra points if there is champagne.
If you were thinking just the same, good news. The Veuve Clicquot x Belmond Solaire Journeys have launched, with the Singapore-Malaysia journey on the Eastern & Oriental Express just completed in April. Passengers feasted on a champagne brunch before setting out for Penang, indulging in live music, fine dining by chef André Chiang and vintage bubbly as they passed through untouched landscapes of Malaysia.
For those who missed the trip, that’s okay. There are two more on the docket, including the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express (4 to 6 July 2024) that will leave Vienna for Reims, and the Hiram Bingham & Andean Explorer (21 to 26 October 2024), two trains that will take you through Peru. The Vienna leg will introduce you to the city’s historical Palais Liechtenstein; Reims, the heart of Champagne; and the home of Veuve Clicquot. The Peru leg, on the other hand, will take you from Machu Picchu to Cusco and Arequipa, where you will experience spectacular sunrises and delicacies prepared by various chefs.
And as with any journey with Veuve Clicquot, surely it isn’t too much to expect rare cuvée. If you’re thinking of the Cave Privée collection, Didier Mariotti, the master cellar on board, will be more than happy to share the experience with you. “I am delighted to be able to offer passengers the opportunity to discover this private collection. Our Cave Priveé collection has been deeply influenced by time and these grand vins have been carefully guarded as one of the House’s best-kept secrets.”
