Date Night: Vitis Wine Bar and Bistro, a champion of Asian wine and flavours

By Hannah Choo 29 November, 2024

Journey through the finest expressions of Asia, from China’s Long Dai Cabernet Blend 2019 to Thailand’s Granmonte Sakura Rosé 2023

What’s the story?

Vitis, which is Latin for ‘grapes’, is a new wine bar and bistro that’s opened at Duo Galleria, just steps away from So France. Founded by Gary Low, a seasoned sommelier who may have once served you at Jaan or Burnt Ends, Vitis is your key to exceptional (and underrated) wines from Asia, inviting wine lovers to a whole new world of flavours.

Name me some good wines.

Journey through the finest expressions of Asia, from the celebrated Long Dai Cabernet Blend 2019 (Shandong, China) and Fratelli Vitae Chardonnay 2016 (India), to the noteworthy Granmonte Sakura Rosé 2023 (Asoke Valley, Thailand). Vitis also celebrates the work of Asian winemakers who have established themselves in other parts of the world. Think Jayden Ong’s Nebbiolo Da Cinque Filari 2019 (Australia) and Sergio Alighieri’s Vaio Armaron Amarone Della Valpolicella 2016 (Italy).

What else is on the menu?

The food here elevates the drinking experience with a fresh take on beloved Asian classics and flavours. The menu, designed by Kenneth Lin (the former head chef at The Market Grill), offers plates both small and large, including deep-fried Pig’s Tail with garlic vinaigrette to cut the fat, and Oxtail ‘Lu Rou’ Noodles, a rich medley of dried scallop, dried prawns, chilli and XO sauce.
