Mikimoto unveils the Jeux de Rubans collection in celebration of this pearl month

By Amos Chin 4 June, 2024

In celebration of June’s birthstone, Mikimoto unveils Jeux de Rubans–a collection embodying the essence of elegance and purity that pearls have symbolised throughout history

The collection, evocative of poetic imagery reminiscent of “ripples of moonlight” and “teardrops of mermaids in shells,” pays homage to the essence of pearls—purity, elegance, beauty, and wisdom. Featuring Akoya and white South Sea cultured pearls, these pieces are paired with intricately detailed ribbons and the scintillating brilliance of diamonds, creating an exquisite fusion that accentuates the pearls’ natural lustre.

At the heart of this collection is a stunning necklace featuring Akoya cultured pearls, forming a delicate collar that resonates with the tranquil rhythm of the ocean. Complementing this centrepiece is another necklace adorned with two central aquamarine stones, a tribute to the deep blue seas—the very birthplace of pearls.

Completing the collection with an additional touch of grandeur are earrings and a ring, each piece capturing the radiant movement of diamond-encrusted ribbons intertwined with the sheen of pearls.

With a history dating back to 1893, when founder Kokichi Mikimoto created the world’s first cultured pearl, Mikimoto has consistently set the standard for quality and craftsmanship. The Jeux de Rubans collection is a shining example of its dedication to creating timeless pieces that blend traditional Japanese heritage with contemporary global influences.
