By Amos Chin 17 June, 2026

Marie-Laure Cérède, the newly appointed director of Chanel’s Jewellery Creation Studio, arrives with a distinguished pedigree, having held key roles at Cartier and Harry Winston

Beginning her tenure at Chanel this October, Marie-Laure Cérède will head the maison’s precious jewellery and high jewellery collections, guiding creative efforts alongside teams in Paris and Geneva and reporting directly to Frédéric Grangié, president of Watches & Fine Jewellery.

Succeeding the late Patrice Leguéreau, whose passing in 2024 left the position unfilled for nearly two years, Marie-Laure Cérède expresses her excitement about joining the house: “I am honoured and moved to join Chanel, a maison of singular cultural force and exceptional discipline that continues to question convention, redefine femininity, and express modernity through form and spirit. I am looking forward to meeting the teams and writing the new chapter together.”

With decades of experience in the industry, including tenures at Cartier and Harry Winston, Cérède is poised to usher in a new era for the maison, bringing her expertise to bear alongside Chanel’s storied savoir-faire and forward-looking vision.

“Her approach to creativity as a delicate balance between heritage, emotion, audacity and restraint will bring a new perspective to the Chanel codes that define our unique creations,” highlights Grangié. “Marie-Laure’s imagination and deep expertise in craft and knowledge of gemology, will take Chanel in exciting new directions.”

Alain Wertheimer, Global Executive Chairman, and Leena Nair, Global CEO of Chanel, echoed this enthusiasm, stating: “Marie-Laure Cérède is one of the most talented, refined, and accomplished Creative Directors of her generation. Her vision, creative ingenuity, and distinct talent to lead creative studios will shape the next chapter of Chanel’s creative story for jewellery.”
