Azimut|Benetti tops the Global Order Book 25 years in a row

The Italian group is the number one producer of 24m and over yachts

In an interview with Marco Valle, CEO of Azimut|Benetti, earlier this year, I asked him why he had chosen to stay with the company for more than 25 years. “When you’re in the winning group,” he replied, ”what’s there to change?”

With Azimut|Benetti claiming the top spot in the production of yachts over 24 meters for the 25th consecutive year, it seems not much has changed. Leading all categories in the Global Order Book, an annual ranking by Boat International, the group holds an estimated 20 per cent share of the global superyacht market.

The figures, perhaps, should be of little surprise. Azimut|Benetti has, after all, just concluded another financially robust year, reporting revenues of 1.3 billion euros. More impressively, the Italian consortium currently boasts an order backlog that stretches as far as 2029, and has begun construction on a further 164 units.

“Twenty-five years at the top of the sector represent a true ‘record within a record’,” says Giovanna Vitelli, chairperson of Azimut|Benetti Group. “It’s a testament to our unwavering entrepreneurial vision, which is based on an organic, resilient and sustainable growth strategy aimed at creating durable value that lasts over time.”

Speaking of sustainable growth, the Group has made notable advancements in reducing its environmental footprint. Over half of Azimut’s fleet now comprises low-emission yachts, with the Seadeck Series achieving a 40 per cent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions over a typical year of use. Benetti, meanwhile, has embraced hybrid propulsion and biofuel technologies, with several hybrid mega yachts currently under construction.

While Azimut|Benetti continues to hold its number one position, other prominent players have also maintained their rankings in the Global Order Book. Sanlorenzo, Feadship, and Princess Yachts all retained their spots, coming in second, third, and seventh, respectively.
