Life is good at Arosa, Switzerland. The winters afford you limitless skiing and snowboarding on expansive groomed runs, and outdoor ice baths in the Untersee Lake if you’re feeling brave. The summers are just as beautiful, with the Arosa Bear Sanctuary a popular destination in the region.

Assuming you are looking to visit this end of the year, we must recommend the BelArosa Chalet, located just above the heart of the resort village. Built on the bones of the old Hotel Alpina, this contemporary hideaway, perched at 1,800 metres above sea level on the pine-fringed slopes of Arosa, is the definition of new Alpine luxury, distilled into something poetic with the beauty of elemental design and reclaimed materials.

Beyond its ancient spruce exterior, with eaves carved from antique doors and fireplace framed from 15th-century church stones, the interior aesthetic leans towards quiet tactility and purpose. Raw textures, sculptural forms and earth-drawn palettes blend in with bespoke furnishings by Italian atelier Villevenete, while pieces of art punctuate the space with character.

Conceptualised by Martin Mattersberger of Passion M and realised by architect Jürg Kunz, BelArosa is home to 10 self-contained mountain residences—five of which crowned with cantilevered infinity pools. Ranging from 95 to 210 square metres, these chalet-apartments, with their six-metre-high windows and vaulted ceilings, never fail to impress with their picture-perfect views of the sweeping Alpine vistas. Designed to foster independence, comfort and immersion, they come fully equipped with a kitchen, Finnish sauna, Aosta stone bathroom and locally made products, from artisan soaps by Beat Urech to handmade ceramics by Jordankeramik.

Of course, the BelArosa experience is more than just a luxurious apartment stay. Guests itching for a good workout may get a personal trainer on request and those seeking a spa day can enjoy even more wellness facilities at BelArosa Suiten & Wellness, the sister hotel that’s just 100 metres away. Food-wise, you are more than covered. There’s breakfast with a choice of over 100 items delivered to your door at anytime you wish, multi-course in-room dining, and even a private chef that’s available on request.
