In celebration of the Year of the Fire Horse, The GlenAllachie has released a festive 13-year-old single malt
We know, we know. Christmas hasn’t come yet, but before the Lunar New Year is here, one must keep tabs on The GlenAllachie‘s latest limited-edition single malt.
In celebration of the upcoming Year of the Fire Horse, a symbol of independence, vitality and fiery passion, the independent Speyside distillery has unveiled a festive 13-year-old expression. Created by industry legend Billy Walker, this second instalment of the Lunar New Year series captures the spirit of celebration, promising a year of energy, innovation and bold ambition.

Combining Walker’s love of sherry-cask matured whiskies (Pedro Ximénez sherry and Oloroso sherry) with the unexpected boldness of high-charred Appalachian virgin oak, the whisky embodies the distillery’s signature sherry-forward character, elevated by the virgin oak’s toasty sweetness and subtle spice. Altogether, there’s that harmonious balance of richness and intrigue—perfect for toasting the arrival of the Lunar New Year—and layers of warmth, intensity and complexity that echo the Fire element of the zodiac.
As a bottle made to be shared in good company and good fortune, key retailers across Asia were also invited to taste and share their input on the age, cask and flavour profile. This ultimately shaped an expression finely tuned to local palates, packaged in something quite visually striking and reflective of the region’s whisky culture. Think a fiery-red palette adorned with illustrations of a horse’s flowing mane and tail, evoking multi-tonal flames, and a horseshoe charm symbolising good fortune.
Yours RRSP £78.99 at select retailers across Singapore. A limited number of bottles will also be available at the distillery and its online shop this January.
