Amouage launches three new Essences perfumes

Named Line 618, Remain, and Sequence, each of these Amouage Essences olfactory portraits interprets time through a distinct geometric concept tied to its name

The fragrances in the Essences Collection centre on the concept of time, and the three new scents—Line 618, Remain, and Sequence—continue that exploration. Each olfactory portrait interprets time through a geometric concept reflected in its name.

Created by master perfumer Nathalie Lorson, Line 618 takes its name from the Golden Ratio (1.618), a mathematical principle that represents harmony and perfect proportion. Photo by Amouage

Line 618 takes its cue from the straight line, embodying continuity and balance through a never-ending, sophisticated trail. It opens with black pepper and pineapple before unfolding into a heart of heliotrope and pine that lends creamy floral and green nuances. The composition deepens into a refined base of sandalwood, patchouli, and leather.

Remain draws inspiration from a dot—“a singular moment from which all time unfolds.” It opens with a burst of pimento berry and mandarin, giving way to frankincense and a rich floral heart of jasmine, ylang-ylang, and lily. The warm yet luminous fragrance settles into an enveloping base of ambergris, guaiacwood, patchouli, and castoreum.

Sequence nods to the circle, a universal symbol of renewal. Perfumer Julien Rasquinet interprets the idea through a composition that moves from light to depth and back again—beginning with lychee and raspberry, warmed by saffron, enriched with tonka bean, osmanthus, and rose, and anchored by leather and ambery woods.

While each fragrance in this trio is strikingly unique in both scent and concept, all share a singular commitment to innovation—a hallmark of the niche perfumery brand. Like the other Essences offerings, these creations are steeped for six months with aged Australian sandalwood chips, while the alcohol used to temper the scent is matured separately for the same duration in hand-crafted French oak barrels by Allary. This meticulous double infusion imparts extraordinary depth, allowing delicate nuances to emerge—subtle details that might otherwise go unnoticed.
