In our new interview series spotlighting forward-thinking figures in independent watchmaking, Benjamin Arabov, CEO of Jacob & Co, shares more on the brand’s Godfather II timepiece
Fans of The Godfather will instantly recognise its enduring appeal, a sweeping saga that follows Michael Corleone’s transformation from war hero and reluctant outsider to the head of a powerful crime family. For those who want to experience a piece of that world, Jacob & Co. offers it through The Godfather II timepiece, a musical complication that plays two iconic melodies from the film’s score: The Godfather’s Waltz and The Godfather Love Theme.
The timepiece is housed in a curved, 42 x 44mm rectangular case inspired by Art Deco design, which plays a crucial role in enhancing both sound projection and intensity. Inside lies a refined movement that combines a flying tourbillon with dual power reserve indicators.

Visually, the watch is rich in cinematic detail. A black lacquer dial evokes the film’s noir mood, while elements such as engraved bullet holes, a gun-barrel-inspired crown and Don Corleone’s rose motif and a portrait of Marlon Brando as Don Corleone anchors the dial, accompanied by the iconic puppet strings. On the caseback, a piano-shaped sapphire opening reveals the music box mechanism, alongside an engraved score of The Godfather Love Theme.
CEO Benjamin Arabov describes it as the brand’s “defining novelty this year,” adding that it builds on one of Jacob & Co’s most recognisable creations. The timepiece reflects the brand’s continued commitment to creating watches that are not only technically complex, but also deeply expressive.

The watch is powered by the new JCAM62 calibre, featuring a melody selector at 10 o’clock that allows the wearer to switch between the two tunes. Activated via a pusher at 8 o’clock, each melody plays for 15 to 20 seconds and can be repeated up to 10 times on a single wind.
How does the Godfather II express where your brand stands today?
In 2026, we are marking 40 years of Jacob & Co. We know exactly who we are, and we are building with absolute confidence. The Godfather II reflects that clarity. It represents a brand that is not looking outward for validation, but drawing from its own legacy, refining its language, pushing its boundaries, and setting its own standards. Four decades in, we are not slowing down; we are sharpening our vision and executing it at a higher level than ever before.

What elements could only have been realised by an independent watch brand?
Decisiveness and creative freedom. As an independent brand, we move without hesitation. We do not dilute ideas to fit expectations; we take them to their full potential. We operate without creative boundaries, pushing ideas that may seem impossible until they become possible. That level of creative and technical control allows us to deliver something this focused and complete.
What risks were taken to create the Godfather II?
Creating something distinctive requires commitment creatively, technically and commercially. Developing a highly complex mechanism such as a double music box introduces new technical challenges, demanding precision, space management and long-term reliability.

At the same time, creating a second chapter means living up to the expectations of the first. We invest in unconventional ideas and bring them to the highest level of execution. That comes with pressure, but we embrace it. Playing safe has never been part of our approach.
What long-term impact do you hope this timepiece will have?
It will be remembered as part of a continuous evolution. At Jacob & Co., no single timepiece stands alone. Each contributes to a larger story of precision, creativity and conviction. It marks a point where we proved we never stopped pushing forward. A brand that keeps redefining what is possible and never settles for what has already been done.
