IWC gets summer-ready with the Ingenieur Automatic 35 Pool

The IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35 Pool brings a splash of summer to the collection’s architectural silhouette

The summer break may have just left us (yes, it is technically always summer here in sunny Singapore), but IWC Schaffhausen seems intent on keeping the season alive a little longer. Unveiling a new expression of the celebrated Ingenieur Automatic 35, the maison introduces a dial shade called Pool, a crisp, aquatic blue that brings a lighter and more playful energy to the collection’s sharp and architectural silhouette.

At 35mm, the Ingenieur Automatic 35 is already the most compact expression of IWC’s modern Genta-inspired integrated-bracelet sports watch. With this new colourway, however, it takes on a fresh and cool personality, imbued with a flash of resort-ready brightness that feels well timed for warmer days, linen shirts, and the occasional escape from the office.

That’s not to say the timepiece would feel out of place in dressier attire. Alongside the existing silver, black, and deep blue dials, as well as the 18-carat 5N gold execution, the new Pool-dial Ingenieur still carries the collection’s essential sense of polish and restraint, balancing its seasonal vibrancy with the disciplined lines and refined finishing that have long defined the Ingenieur’s appeal.

It is, of course, an appeal that collectors are well aware of. Though the Ingenieur was first introduced in 1955 as a technically minded, anti-magnetic watch, its defining shape arrived in 1976, when Gérald Genta gave the collection its integrated bracelet, sculpted case, and screw-secured bezel. IWC brought that language back into focus with the Ingenieur Automatic 40 in 2023, before distilling it into a more compact 35mm variation in 2025.

With its new turquoise-green hue, the Ingenieur Automatic 35 Pool brings an easy elegance to the overall design. The cool shade, accentuated by the familiar grid pattern on the dial, tempers the hard geometry of the case: softening its muscular bezel, exposed screws, and crisp transitions between brushed and polished steel. While darker dial executions can emphasise the Ingenieur’s more assertive character, the Ingenieur Automatic 35 Pool introduces a lighter composition, giving the watch a more relaxed and approachable presence without dulling its architectural edge.
