Just yesterday in Paris, James Dyson revealed an entirely new way to clean teeth. Taking your average electric toothbrush to greater heights is the Dyson CameraJet, a newfangled piece of technology carrying a less-than-straightforward name and all the tools designed to challenge every aspect of conventional oral care.

Six years were spent on creating the world’s first toothbrush with a camera. Because “nine in 10 people do not floss as regularly as they should,” the CameraJet aims to solve this problem with machine learning, precision fluid dynamics, advanced brushing technologies and connectivity.

Innovations include a dual bristle brush head with variable sonic oscillation, and a high-quality endoscope for an integrated camera. Gap Optical Targeting™ allows the camera to analyse 28 live images per second, identifying the gaps between your teeth and triggering a jet stream of mouthrinse to floss where needed. Unlike tradition needle-type jets, which can puncture through plaque, Dyson’s conical jet is said to remove more plaque without roughing up your gums and enamel.

This stream of water is backed by a compact 12.5ml tank equipped with a refill station (as part of the charging dock) and diaphragm pump, delivering a precise amount of proprietary mouthrinse in any orientation. The anti-gravity tank is also engineered to minimise air pockets to prevent it from firing blanks. This low-foaming rinse will come paired with a non-foaming toothpaste, so nothing stands in the way of the camera and your dental health.
