A treasure trove of pristine, vintage wines and spirits awaits at one of the auction house’s largest curated sales ever

Calling all whisky heads, oenophiles and those with an extremely soft spot for booze in general: if you’re planning on a trip to Tokyo end of October this year, you couldn’t have chosen a more perfect timing. On 28 October, Kaigai Fine Wine will be hosting the 23rd Wine and Whisky Fall Auction at the ANA InterContinental Tokyo. Anticipated to be one of the brand’s grandest curated sale ever, the auction is a golden opportunity for you to get your hands on some of the world’s most extraordinary bottlings.

Highly-prized wines that will be going under the hammer include over 40 bottles of DRCs with Romanee-Conti vintages from 1971, a 2006 Richebourg in magnum and a rare 1988 La Tache double magnum in mint condition.

Also joining the arena are bottles of Jacky Truchot Clos Sorbes and Clos de la Roche, along with vintages from Rene Engels, Mugneret-Gibourg and Henri Jayer.

No auction would be complete without a couple of Bordeaux wines, and clients can look forward to putting their money on the creme de la creme of wines with the ‘80s and ‘90s Latour and Lafite.

When Champagne comes to play, only a handful of the world’s most precious will be flown in to Tokyo: a pristine bottle of 1953 Pol Roger in magnum, a vertical of the Taittinger Artist Collection and an enchanting selection of Selosse in various vintages.

But all eyes on the grandest bottle of all: the 1940 vintage Macallan Red Ribbon that’s still encased within its original wooden box. Bottled in 1981 for an Italian company, the single malt whisky will make an extremely rare appearance at the auction, and will hopefully land in the hands of only the well-deserved.
