In this year’s Best of the Best 2020 awards, we recognise the brands that have pushed boundaries in design and innovation, and those who have made significant contributions to alleviate the pandemic
According to the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Schrieberg, politicians have unquestionably been stretching the truth – and indeed, downright lying – since the birth of Athenian democracy 2,500 years ago. ‘Fake news’ isn’t a new phenomenon; it has existed for as long as human civilisation has, but it has been propelled by the transformation of the global media landscape. Today, the premise of journalistic integrity has come under scrutiny like never before – naturally exerting influence on how Robb Report Singapore should curate its annual Best of the Best issue.
Since 2013, Robb Report’s Best of the Best has been a platform for us to recognise the outstanding achievements by brands that have pushed boundaries in design and innovation across a spectrum of luxury categories. Last year, we unveiled the Asian edition of Best of the Best, a showcase of just how much talent there was in our very own backyard.
But nobody could have foreseen where we’d be a year later. The worldwide pandemic has been an eye-opening phenomenon for all of us, and strengthened our resolve to celebrate those who’ve continued to be trailblazers in their respective industries, who at the same time have shown strong respect for heritage in their creative pursuits.
The winners of Robb Report’s Best of the Best 2020 have been selected by the editorial team – together with our counterparts in the US – for more than just their creativity and innovation. The list is truly the culmination of our editors’ years of expertise and dedication in curating the beats that they cover, further substantiated by the opinions of industry leaders and our readers as well. Alongside awards for outstanding finesse in categories such as cars, watches and jewellery, design, food and wine, we would also like to recognise the significant contributions made to alleviate the COVID-19 crisis. Hence, for the first time, the team will be introducing humanitarian awards in this year’s edition.
