The luncheons spread over three afternoons in two restaurants, hosting approximately 30 newly minted Thought Leaders
It’s that time of the year where Robb Report Singapore’s Thought Leaders community reveals the addition of new members – 30 to be exact. The community was launched in 2019, unveiling 27 founding members, and has since grown to a group of 86. While the number has changed on a yearly basis, our vision hasn’t. Our Thought Leaders continue to be risk-takers who look beyond the horizon, tackling issues and engaging in topics that others may evade.
In celebration of the launch, we hosted a series of luncheons for our newly minted Thought Leaders at Gemma Steakhouse and Restaurant Art last month. The occasion saw the industry leaders convening for the first time, an opportunity for them to partake in a slew of conversations over a specially curated four-course meal.
But the luncheons were more than just gastronomy-filled afternoons; we gifted each member with a bottle of Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Reserva 2016, courtesy of The Straits Wine Company, a luxury car fragrance set from Charabanc, and a copy of the September 2021 issue with a personalised cover. Meanwhile, these leaders were coddled with dishes such as the Blue Swimmer Crab and F1 Jack’s Creek Wagyu Sirloin at Gemma Steakhouse, while Restaurant Art served up dishes such as the White Pekin Duck and taglierini verdi with pesto.
On what it means to be a Thought Leader, CEO of Accredify Quah Zheng Wei says, “I think being a Thought Leader is about grooming the next generation, to show them the tricks of the trade and training them to do the same.” On the other hand, fellow member Melissa Ng Wei Ying, co-founder of Bravely, admits that she hopes to attract more Thought Leaders to the community “who feel like they might be a little different, but have strong things to say.”
Naveen Menon, president of Cisco Systems (ASEAN) and board member of Cisco Foundation, posits, “I learn a lot from expanding my network, and this is made possible with the Thought Leaders community. These new networks could help me in the future as well, and I’m very optimistic about that.”
