Bark Air is hosting a dog-first island retreat at Kona Village, a Rosewood Resort

Since it launched in 2024, Bark Air has been creating first-class experiences for both dogs and their humans

You could soon be taking your dog to Hawaii. Bark Air, a first-in-class airline for crate-free dogs and their humans, just announced the launch of their Dog-First Island Retreats, created as a shared experience for both you and your furry best friend.

Scheduled for this March (15 to 19) and May (13 to 17), the retreats span four nights at Kona Village, a Rosewood Resort, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Stay in a luxury oceanfront hale (traditional Hawaiian bungalows) overlooking Kakuwai Bay and enjoy a slew of dog-inclusive experiences. That ranges from morning swims and sunset yoga to guided ‘sensory wonder walks’ through the resort and a welcome luau on the beach.

A personal planner can also help book and coordinate bespoke itineraries according to your dog’s personality, play style and dietary preferences. Access to behaviour and wellness facilitators will be available throughout your stay, and so will pet sitters, in the event you need one. Everything will be taken care of to ensure seamless travel, even Hawaii’s notoriously difficult pet-entry paperwork, so your retreat can begin from the get-go, quarantine-free.

Be ready to fork out US$2,690 a night, before taxes and fees, on top of your round-trip flight (US$15,000) on Bark Air via Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Paris and Madrid. Every ticket includes travel for one dog of any size and any breed, or two dogs with a combined weight of 50 pounds (22.7 kg), as well as plenty of personalised pup attention, snacks, wellness perks and space.
