Since founding Jacob & Co 30 years ago, the visionary Jacob Arabo has created highend timepieces and exquisite jewellery which have become the piece de resistance in the ensembles of Hollywood royalty, high society and heads of state. At this year’s Baselworld, Jacob & Co premiered the Twin Turbo (S$550,000) – a grand complication manual-winding timepiece which combines tourbillon and minute repeater.
A cursory examination reveals the spectacularly constructed twin triple-axis tourbillons, turning at a uniform rate of 40 seconds, three minutes and four minutes respectively on every cycle, ensuring a consistent spread of gravitational forces on the balance. Its decimal minute repeater chimes the hours, 10-minute intervals and minutes on deep-sounding cathedral gongs. This entire opus to horology is encased in a 57- by 51-mm titanium and carbon fibre case.
