Bowmore Appellations is soon available at a pop-up at Changi Airport from 1 November 2024
Wine finishes seem to be a growing staple in the whisky world, being a great way to add nuanced flavour to liquid gold. While it can’t always be outstanding, what recently caught our eyes and palates is Bowmore Appellations, a new travel retail series made in collaboration with some of the world’s finest wine-producing regions.
Available at Changi Airport from 1 November 2024, where there will be immersive displays and tastings for those who are keen, the collection features four whiskies that have been finished in casks from the vineyards and wineries of Burgundy and Bordeaux, and the port houses of the Duoro Valley. Ranging from a 14 Years Old to 22 Years Old, these whiskies are a package deal, embodying influences of Islay—Bowmore’s island home—and the charm of renowned European terroirs.
Bowmore 14 Years Old
Matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks and finished in the finest Bordeaux barrels, this whisky is a vibrant one that’s filled with smoke, orchard fruit aromas and the sweetness of berries.
Bowmore 16 Years Old
Aged in American oak ex-bourbon casks and European oak sherry casks, this ruby port cask-finished whisky is perfect for anyone who loves a rich and smoky sip.
Bowmore 19 Years Old
Matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks and finished in Pinot Noir casks from Burgundy, the 19 Years Old is delightfully “smouldering”, as we are told. It’s an expressive one, defined by subtle smokiness and toasty, caramelised flavours.
Bowmore 22 Years Old
The 22 Years Old is right up your alley if you’re looking for something elegant. It gets its sweet and fruity nature from a good amount of time spent in American oak ex-bourbon and Sauternes casks. Delicious.
