An immersive celebration of the enigmatic anonymous street artist, The Art of Banksy: Without Limits brings over 200 works to Singapore for a transformative exhibition experience
Few artists have managed to merge humour, provocation, and cultural critique as seamlessly as Banksy. The anonymous British street artist has captivated audiences worldwide with his thought-provoking pieces, and now, his works take centre stage in Singapore. The Art of Banksy: Without Limits is a globally acclaimed exhibition that has journeyed through major cities, including Sydney, Amsterdam, and Seoul. From 5 December, it opens its doors at 25 Scotts Road, offering Singaporeans a rare opportunity to delve into the world of this enigmatic artist.
Occupying a custom-built 1,300 sqm space, the exhibition features over 200 works, ranging from certified originals to recreations crafted with Banksy’s signature stencil techniques. Highlights include renowned pieces such as Flower Thrower and Phone Booth, alongside installations like the politically charged Infinity Room and the darkly satirical Dismaland. Visitors will also encounter a replica of the Walled Off Hotel lobby, a nod to Banksy’s 2017 boutique hotel project critiquing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Beyond its artistic allure, The Art of Banksy: Without Limits immerses attendees in the artist’s social and political commentary. The Ukraine zone explores themes of resilience and resistance, while the interactive Zoo installation examines humanity’s impact on wildlife. A hands-on element invites visitors to spray-paint T-shirts, with proceeds supporting the M.V. Louise Michel organisation, championing humanitarian causes aligned with Banksy’s activism.
The exhibition transcends conventional displays with its multimedia approach, blending video projections, murals, and mirrored infinity rooms to captivate viewers. Through Banksy’s works, attendees are encouraged to confront societal issues and reflect on the complexities of modern life. “Banksy’s work unites people with ideas and values that can change the world for the better,” says Kemal Gurkaynak, managing director of Muse Marketing and Entertainment, summing up the exhibition’s ethos.
The Art of Banksy: Without Limits is a cultural event that provokes, inspires, and educates. Tickets start from $27 for adults and $17 for children, with visiting times spanning morning to evening–one should allocate about 45 to 60 minutes to best experience the entire walkthrough exhibition. Whether you’re a die-hard Banksy fan or new to his art, this exhibition promises an unforgettable encounter with one of contemporary art’s most compelling voices.
