Guests at Capella Hotels can enjoy complimentary Lunar New Year experiences, starting 28 January

The new year is a time for fresh starts, resolutions, and renewed goals. But those with an eye on the calendar—or perhaps an ear tuned to tradition—will be well aware that the Lunar New Year is fast approaching. If you’re eager to ring in the Year of the Snake with grandeur or simply seek an intimate retreat with the family, the Capella Hotel Group, it appears, has curated a range of experiences across several of its properties, specially designed for the occasion.

Capella Singapore, for example, will kick off the festivities with a vibrant lion and dragon dance performance on 29 January. Recently named one of the World’s 50 Best Hotels in 2024, the property, nestled within the lush Sentosa enclave, will let guests try their hand at pineapple tart-making and Chinese calligraphy. Epicureans, meanwhile, can look forward to dining at Cassia, the hotel’s modern Cantonese restaurant, which is set to present specially-crafted festive menus.

If you’re seeking overseas respite without venturing too far, however, Capella’s properties in Bangkok, Hanoi, Shanghai, and Tufu Bay are also offering unique Lunar New Year celebrations. From banh chung-making workshops during Tet in Hanoi to riverside dining in Bangkok, these destinations are set to offer a harmonious mix of culture and relaxation. Should you prefer something with a more traditional flair, Capella Shanghai and Capella Tufu Bay are set to offer explorations into the art of woodblock painting and lantern riddles, tai chi, and traditional poster crafting.

Further afield, Capella Sydney opens its celebrations with a lion dance on 28 January, followed by a Lunar New Year-themed afternoon tea with champagne and caviar. Over in the Maldives, meanwhile, you can enjoy the idyllic Patina Fari Islands while partaking in a host of experiences that include dumpling-making workshops and intimate hotpot dinners by the sea.
