In Diageo’s new chapter of Rare Series, enthusiasts are invited to explore what it means to endure and thrive in a bracing Scottish winter
Drawn from Diageo’s treasure trove of over 30 distilleries and 10 million casks, Rare Series is a celebration of Scotland’s most remarkable whisky brands and the stories that shape them. Each new release takes connoisseurs on a journey across all of Scotland, revelling in the various styles of whisky and their distinctive qualities.

In a new chapter of Rare Series, enthusiasts are transported to two distinct locations, to explore what it means to endure and thrive in a bracing Scottish winter. Coming from one of Scotland’s highest and coldest distilleries is the Dalwhinnie 1989 Rare Series, a 36-year-old expression matured in Amoroso-seasoned American oak hogsheads with a unique long finishing of over four years. It’s the first time a Dalwhinnie has been bottled in such a cask style, with a profile of sweet floral richness, honeycomb and wild moorland scents that offer a welcome respite from the rugged landscape.
Around 100 kilometres away is the Convalmore 1984 Rare Series from the iconic Speyside region. While the distillery no longer stands, its legacy continues with this glorious 41-year-old expression, drawn from four refill American oak hogsheads casks and bottled the year before it shuttered. One can expect complex notes of lush orchard fruits, honey, beeswax and gentle spices, telling the story of a ghost distillery whose remaining casks have been shaped by nature and time.
