More speed, greater distance, and a specific driver to suit your swing from Ping’s new G440 family
Good things, as the adage goes, come to those who wait. For fans of Ping’s ‘G’ family of clubs–a wide spectrum that includes both professionals and everyday golfers–the G440 line-up arriving almost two years after its predecessor, the fast and consistent G430, will have them rubbing their palms in anticipation.
“One of the key design themes throughout the G440 driver family is ‘optimisation,” says John K. Solheim, CEO and president of Ping. “That includes everything from the head size and shape to ensuring each model fits a specific player profile.”
This latest collection comprises three driver models (MAX, LST, SFT), three fairway wood designs (MAX, LST, SFT), which are available in various lofts, six hybrid options, and an iron set spanning 4-9 irons, along with PW, UW, and lofted wedges at 52° and 56°.
Within the driver line-up, the engineering team announces that it has redefined driver performance by achieving the lowest centre of gravity (CG) ever in a Ping driver. This advancement translates to enhanced ball speed and higher launch angles, elevating distance, and precision.
The G440 MAX driver (460cc) stands as the most forgiving model in the range, making it an ideal fit for the majority of golfers. For players with faster swing speeds seeking greater control and reduced spin, the G440 LST (Low Spin) offers a 450cc design with exceptional precision. Meanwhile, golfers requiring slice-correction technology will find their match in the G440 SFT (Straight Flight Technology) model. The fairway wood models feature a taller face for better performance off the tee and a refined CG system for high-launch shots from the turf.
The G440 irons, on the other hand, continue Ping’s legacy of precision. They offer a compact, player-inspired look with a thinner face and optimized CG for increased ball speed. The re-engineered PurFlex cavity badge enhances feel and sound, while the updated wedge configuration ensures optimal gapping for every shot.
“Through multiple technologies across all the product categories, the next generation of our ‘G’ franchise is delivering more speed and more distance while ensuring the forgiveness expected from every Ping club,” adds Solheim.
