Developed by The Brodsky Organisation with The Sorgente Group, the Flatiron Building will be home to 36 expansive apartments, starting at US$11 million
The Flatiron Building may not be as tall as the Empire State Building, nor does it come with an observation deck, but it is still an icon of New York—with its resemblance to a cast-iron clothing iron, distinctive Greek columns and Beaux Arts decorative elements.
The triangular building, overlooking Madison Square Park from the corner of Fifth Avenue and Broadway, has spent most of its 124 years as a commercial space. But after the final long-term tenant moved out in 2019, it went into hiding, finding refuge behind scaffolding and netting while undergoing a massive US$161.5 million renovation.

Its storied legacy will be preserved with a dedication to artistry and materials that meld the past and present. Thousands of terra-cotta pieces from the façade have been replicated and restored, and the windows, dating back to the 1970s, have been replaced with new ones thick enough to offer silence in bustling New York.
And as with most office-to-residential conversions, awkward floor plans will be masterfully transformed into 36 ultra-luxury apartments, with some units spanning entire levels. Designed by Studio Sofield and SLCE Architects, the residences range from US$11 million three-bedroom apartments to a US$58.5 million penthouse with five bedrooms and over 687 square metres of interior space.
While residents are expected to start moving in this autumn, the full collection of residences will be completed in early 2027, along with amenities that include an 18-metre pool, a wellness centre, billiards room and piano lounge.
