Girard-Perregaux has decided to keep the party going for the 50th anniversary of its sporty Laureato

The watchmaker just unveiled four new references within its Laureato Fifty lineup, after debuting a limited-edition timepiece late last year to ring in that 50-year milestone. And this quartet, now permanent members of the Girard-Perregaux family, remains true to the spirit of the Laureato, with a ‘70s-inspired octagonal bezel, tonneau-shaped case, and an integrated bracelet—with a few modern tricks up its sleeve, of course.

One of those is the movement. The Girard-Perregaux in-house Calibre GP4800 found here—one of three new movements unveiled by the brand since last September, in a horological flex—is home to 10 different finishes, including sandblasting, sunray finishing, circular satin-brushing, and more. The self-winding mechanical movement is also equipped with an 18-karat pink-gold oscillating weight and balance bridge—done up in the material specifically for this collection. You can see both in action for yourself via the sapphire crystal caseback. Offering up hours, minutes, central seconds, and date functions, the calibre provides 60 hours of power reserve and a frequency of 4 Hz with 163 components.

The steel Laureato Fifty watches also come in the 39 mm size that debuted last fall, but there are also some new 36 mm iterations up for grabs. The star here is the 39 mm equipped with a striking blue enamel dial, the first to be made by Girard-Perregaux in-house, with a “Clous de Paris” motif that allows light to glint across the dial. The same dial design extends to the rest of the lineup, which includes both a 36 mm and a 39 mm with an 18-karat pink-gold. A silver-dial model rounds out the offerings, but this one has a bit more bling on the case thanks to 64 brilliant-cut diamonds set in the steel. Each model is also home to 18-karat solid-gold hours and minutes hands in a luminescent material and a water resistance of 150 meters.

“The Laureato endures through the strength of its architecture: a measured balance of lines and the movement within, naturally evolving with depth, presence and enduring character,” Marc Michel-Amadry, managing director of Girard-Perregaux, said in a press statement.

The Laureto Fifty in 39 mm and 36 mm with a 18-karat pink-gold dial retails for US$23,100, while the 39 mm version with the blue enamel dial is priced at US$24,500. Rounding out the group is the 36 mm diamond-set model, which is priced at US$24,200.
