In this year’s Best of the Best, we continue to honour the brands and people who have continued to create covetable products, even in the midst of a global pandemic. Here, we have H. Moser & Cie. top the sports watch department
If you can’t beat them join them, goes the familiar saying, and H. Moser & Cie. has indeed joined the bandwagon of modern sports watches with integrated bracelets, by introducing the Streamliner Chronograph. Immediately though, this watch stands out and for two reasons: it has a funky retro-chic design that brings to mind the aerodynamic aesthetic of early high-speed trains, and it offers one of the sleekest chronograph dial displays on the market. Minimalism, as you might know, is one of H. Moser & Cie.’s most recognisable traits. Just as the Perpetual 1 did away with calendar windows, so too did this piece. It stays subdial- free by cleverly using the minutes ring and only centrally mounted hands for all timekeeping functions. Hands which, if we may add, have been purposefully designed to resonate with the design of the watch and also offer perfect visibility – an ingenious combination that is, to borrow a phrase from H. Moser & Cie., very rare.
