You’re coming to the cottage—just don’t expect Shane Hollander or Ilya Rozanov
One of the main stars of the Heated Rivalry series—the hit hockey romance that set the Internet ablaze with fandom at the top of the year—is Shane Hollander’s Canadian cottage, which becomes a safe haven where he and Ilya Rozanov undergo a flurry of pivotal relationship moments at the show’s end. And now you can see for yourself where all the emotional scenes took place thanks to Airbnb. The company is now offering fans the chance to stay at the property.
Known as the Barlochan cottage, the modern abode is perched along Lake Muskoka, in Ontario. You’ll have a private dock to take in the sights (and perhaps stare pensively out onto the water with your loved one, á la Shane and Ilya). The secluded local gives you the perfect chance to spend some one-on-one time with that special someone; you could whip up meals in the spacious kitchen, covered in wood and large appliances. Those wooden elements continue across the home, surrounding the massive, western-facing windows that bring the scenic outdoors right into the living room, meaning you can catch some pretty spectacular sunsets, too. You can also cozy up by the indoor fireplace, while watching a movie or two on the state-of-the-art entertainment system. Elsewhere, you’ll find a gym and a main bedroom with an en suite, along with two other bedrooms.

The offering is well-timed: Thanks to Heated Rivalry, interest in the Muskoka area has increased by 40 per cent as fans of the show looked for their own cottage retreat, according to Airbnb. Now, of course, they can rest their heads at the place that started it all. The hit series, based on the books by Rachel Reid, depicts the journey of Shane (Hudson Williams) and Ilya (Connor Storrie), two fictitious stars of the “Major Hockey League” that go from rivals to romantic partners—a fact that they keep secret from the rest of the world. And if you happened to miss the frenzy (if so, where have you been?), never fear: The show is streaming on HBO Max.
