Singapore, get ready for a bold new chapter with the arrival of IMBA Theatre, a state-of-the-art venue dedicated to immersive storytelling and cultural innovation
Come December 2025, you can do more than just admire lush greenery and futuristic Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay. IMBA Theatre, the first dedicated space for large-scale immersive experiences in Singapore, is set to open its doors at the end of the year. Designed to bridge art, technology, and storytelling, the venue promises a multi-sensory journey where audiences can engage with culture in unprecedented ways.

A project by IMBA (or Immersive Media Based Arts), the theatre is envisioned as a hub for global and local artistic exchange, featuring an array of exhibitions, performances, and interactive showcases. Its centrepieces include a 20,000 sq ft Black Box Theatre—equipped with one of Southeast Asia’s tallest projection walls—and a 12,500 sq ft Gallery Space designed for both traditional and mixed-media art.
“IMBA Theatre is more than just a venue,” says Michael Lee, CEO of Hustle & Bustle Group. “It is a space designed for scale and adaptability, merging technology, creativity, and impactful storytelling to inspire wonder and forge deeper connections with the arts.”

As part of its inaugural showcase, The Botero Show in Singapore will debut at IMBA Theatre, paying tribute to the late Fernando Botero, whose iconic, voluminous sculptures and paintings are widely celebrated globally. Beyond this, the theatre will highlight Singapore’s cultural heritage, featuring exhibitions on the Nanyang style and artist Yip Yew Chong’s nostalgic murals, alongside an ongoing lineup of global and local productions.
IMBA Theatre also signals a new era of artistic collaboration. Through partnerships with institutions like London’s Lightroom and Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Design & Media, the venue will foster talent development and the creation of cutting-edge content for both local and international audiences.
Mark your calendars–with a strong commitment to innovation and cultural storytelling, IMBA Theatre is poised to become a beacon for immersive art; one that transforms the way we experience creativity.
