Only 2,000 bespoke decanters—designed by Constellation X and co-signed by Monopoly—of the whisky will be produced
Whisky is one of the most enduring signifiers of finery and good taste. Incidentally, Jacob The Jeweller, or, as he is more professionally known, Jacob Arabo, founder of Jacob & Co, is an avid drinker of it and connoisseur on the subject.
That’s the primary reason his brand and another New York fixture (and long-time friend of his), visual artist and DJ Alec Monopoly, have linked arms on the Jacob & Co x Alec Monopoly Limited-Edition Whisky. Right off the bat, Jacob & Co’s first-ever spirit is one of the most exclusive whiskies to enter the ether in recent history. Only 2,000 bespoke decanters—designed by Constellation X and co-signed by Monopoly—of the whisky will be produced, each retailing at US$2,500. Decanter #1, an even more exclusive bottling, adorned by Monopoly’s iconic graffiti stylings, will subsequently head to auction.
Within, the bottles house a blend of scotch whiskies, the youngest of which is 30 years old. Former Bowmore master blender, Andrew Rankin, one of the most respected names in the world of whisky, began assembling the whiskies in 2016, when the blend was then 26 years old and aged the whisky in American oak barrels that previously housed bourbon.
Far from being an exclusive offering for exclusivity’s sake, the bottling and its contents are, collectively, a work of art. Even on an entirely new canvas, Arabo’s standard-setting approach to craftsmanship and creative expression are clearly and palpably visible. Holistically and consummately, the proof is in his palate. Known as he is for favouring the finest scotch whiskies almost exclusively, Jacob having his name on his own hyper-rare variant is an apt and fitting affirmation of his uncompromising vision and ardour.
The decanters are now available for purchase exclusively from Constellation X.
