Seeking something beyond classic Chinese fare? These innovative offerings will leave a refreshing impression on even the most discerning gourmets:
Fat Cow
With a name like ‘Gyu Sheng’, we’re expecting a delightful twist on the traditional yusheng–and the Fat Cow Signaturte Gyu Sheng is exactly that. Starring a luxurious Toriyama Umami Wagyu served together with chuka kurage, chuka wakame and ikura, the dish is finished off with complementary white radish, carrots, and pickled ginger for a vibrant pop of colour, before being elegantly topped off with a wafu sesame dressing. Priced at $68++ for four to five adults, this reimagined yusheng will be available from 22 January to 5 February 2025.
Gingkyo by Kinki
Modern Japanese bistro Ginkyo puts its own contemporary spin on the yusheng with freshly sliced salmon, tuna and swordfish sashimi, with Japanese-inspired accompaniments like sakura denbu and tobiko. Perfect for a group of four to six adults, the Ginkyo Abundance Yu Sheng ($88++) will be offered for dine-in only from 13 January to 12 February 2025.
Robb Tip: For a seamless experience, do put in an advanced order for the Ginkyo Abundance Yu Sheng three days in advance.
Canchita
Deciding on Peruvian flavours for the Lunar New Year celebrations may not be at the top of most dining bucket lists, but be sure not to miss out on a fiery Peruvian-Cantonese fusion menu by Canchita, specifically curated for the Lunar New Year festivities. Among the eclectic mix of seven seasonal favourites, what’s catching our eye are the Lo Hei and Crunchy Tacos ($72), Ceviche Canton ($32), and the Anticuchos Tipakay ($28 for three skewers).
Robb Tip: Don’t go home without a toast to an abundant year ahead. The specially crafted Chifa cocktails, Blossom (an Oriental twist of a tipple with Szechuan pepper gin, lychee liqueur and lime juice, sweetened with juicy strawberries), and Prosperity (shaken up with auspicious ingredients such as chrysanthemum-infused pisco, lemon juice, Mandarin orange, roselle and pineapple juice).
The Lunar New Year set offerings at Canchita are available throughout the month of January.
