A Nose for whisky

What makes for a memorable whisky-tasting experience? When the sheer aroma of it is enough to leave you tingly all over, according to The Macallan’s master whisky maker Bob Dalgarno. Tingly feelings were guaranteed when Dalgarno decided to team up with fragrance maestro Roja Dove to create this limited-edition, highly delectable single-malt whisky (S$190).

Best savoured in the manner of a fine fragrance, an initial whiff reveals vanilla ice cream, fresh cut oak and delicate florals. This in turn leads to a melange of spice notes including orange oil, ginger and cinnamon, then chocolate and a soft, burnished oak finale – not unlike indulging in a sublimely rich, fruit cake.

As Dove himself put it at his creation’s recent launch in Singapore, “It tastes like no Macallan you’ve ever tasted, yet is unmistakably a Macallan.”
