Brought to you by the same group behind Marcy’s, Hevel and Parliament, Maggie’s is an “almost Chinese” restaurant that still aims to please
The story
Marcy’s, that popular seafood diner on Duxton Road, has now got a sibling that goes by the name Maggie’s. Newly opened in the nearby Keong Saik enclave, it brands itself as an “almost Chinese” restaurant that’s all about good fun, great company and even greater food.
“We want people to find pleasure here, whether it’s in a familiar dish with an unexpected twist,” said Tong Hann, the founder of Pleasurecraft Group, which also has Hevel and Parliament under its belt.
Like Marcy’s, Maggie’s aims to create a transportive dining experience by casting new light on classics with bold, exciting flavours. In an intimate space filled with the perfect blend of “grandma chic” and ’70s glamour, diners will be transported beyond the ever-familiar Cantonese and Teochew flavours to various other regions of China, such as Xi’an, Dongbei and Hunan.

The food
The menu is unapologetically inventive in a “let’s play with fire” kind of way. Think Lamb Tartare with century egg and green Hunan chilli, Cacio e Pepe tossed with Sichuan peppercorn and fermented bean curd, and Sticky Date Pudding that’s finished with a touch of soy sauce and pork fat. Other signatures you’d find include Maggie’s Prawn Toast, a Hong Kong classic made with homemade focaccia and topped with a sunny side up and a buttery passion fruit sauce. Do also expect daily specials like raw seafood and larger format meat dishes.
The drinks
Mischief meets mastery once again, with the same flavour inspirations. Expect bold and nostalgic cocktails such as the Sichuan Margarita and Red Date Rum “Tea”, and an extensive roster of wine that’s built on both small-scale vintners and crowd-pleasers.
