What, you thought the brand only specialised in skiwear?
With its snowy, celeb-heavy mountaintop presentations taking place in key resort locations such as the French Alps, it’s easy to forget that Moncler isn’t just made for ski season. Since its founding in 1952, the brand has made a name for itself with best-in-class gear that strikes the perfect balance of functionality, luxury, and an occasional bit of whimsy.
No, Moncler very much does summer, too. The collection that dropped last week takes us down from the slopes and into the city. With coveralls as the main event, this is not an uptown take on utility (and let’s be honest, we hit peak cashmere chore jacket some time ago) but a rugged riff on the classics, made lighter but no less durable by innovative technical fabrics as only Moncler can.

Designed as a modular system with all the pieces playing well together, the collection can just as easily be broken up and worn solo. Lightweight, water-resistant jackets are as perfect for a drizzly commute as they are for a breezy day on the beach or sailing. Even denim has gotten the Moncler treatment in the form of a lightweight pair of jeans that features a subtle stretch for ease of movement. Available in classic dark indigo and an on-trend light stonewash, they are a no-brainer staple to add to your wardrobe—if overalls aren’t quite your cup of tea.

It’s an interesting moment for workwear-inspired fashions, with the love for tried-and-true blue-collar brands such as Carhartt still going strong (I ventured to Williamsburg over the weekend and can confirm), and it’s tempting to play armchair shrink to try to ascertain just why one needs a pair of steel-toe work boots if they’re not heading to a construction site. Perhaps it’s that the definition of “luxury” has gotten lost. Is there anything remotely luxurious about a US$5,000+ bag whose stitching begins to unravel after only a handful of wears? Or an even pricier bespoke suit from a hip young, Instagram-famous tailor with serious quality control issues?
For casualwear at least, Moncler’s summer 2025 collection provides luxury, functionality, and durability in equal measure.
