All eyes on the limited edition Mini Rejane bag and Mini Vanity 1925
Moynat is known to carry some of the most underrated handbags in the realm of luxury fashion- the quality of craftsmanship that goes into the brand’s products has been compared to that of Hermes’ for many years. The French maison, however, will soon be on the radar of more fashion aficionados with the opening of its second boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands (the first is located at Takashimaya Shopping Centre).
Designed by Gwenael Nicolas of architecture firm Curiosity, the boutique is furnished with lacquered panels in warm amber and leather accents, and carries both men’s and women’s collections of leather goods, accessories, trunks and textiles. Beyond the store, all eyes were on the Moynat Art Installation. The brand’s artistic director Ramesh Nair and Singapore graphic designer Theseus Chan had teamed up to exhibit several 100-year-old Moynat trunks on transparent megaliths. These megaliths projected the brand’s iconic motifs and Chan’s signature graphics in an eccentric video format.
Also stealing the show were two limited edition products: the Mini Rejane bag in Natural Calf Cognac and the Mini Vanity 1925. These mini divas are assembled through leather marquetry, a technique that is traditionally applied to wood but this round employed on leather by Moynat.
