Few wristwatches come more highly rated than the ones made by Vacheron Constantin’s Les Cabinotiers department where lofty horological dreams are turned into reality. The latest masterpiece to emerge from this exalted universe is Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Phoenix, which proffers 15 high complications in an awe-inspiring hand-engraved gold case.
All 15 complications are displayed across the twin dial display, so both the front and back are fully utilised. This means you won’t be able to view the movement Calibre 2755 but that’s small beer compared to what you’re getting in return: a minute repeater, perpetual calendar, tourbillon and the equation of time function to name a few. This unique timepiece also offers sunrise/sunset, the sky chart, the seasons, the zodiac, the age and phases of the moon, the solstices, and sidereal hours and minutes, along with a 58-hour power reserve.
Its case measures 47mm across and 19.10mm in height, so it’s not designed to be discreet. Every conceivable surface has been covered with artisanal hand engraving. Vacheron Constantin has deployed the ancient pounced ornament technique for the caseband, as well as fine line engraving for the bezel and caseback.
