Joining the culinary hotbed that is Duxton Road, Restaurant Jag offers a fine dining experience spread across two floors
Duxton Road continues to be on the radar of the city’s most rabid foodies. It’s here where you can get the best coffee in town, indulge in fancy champagne brunches and enjoy gratifying set lunches. But that’s not all savvy diners will find here, as those with a soft spot for artisanal French fare can now treat themselves at the newly opened Restaurant Jag.
Helmed by Michelin-starred chef Jeremy Gillon and managing director Anant Tyagi, Restaurant Jag is split across two levels. The first is a dining area that seats 25 and offers views of the open kitchen, making it perfect for intimate gatherings. The lounge and bar occupy level two, where business executives can network over a glass of bubbly.
The fine dining restaurant takes on an artisanal approach in its operations quite ardently. You’ll notice this from the white-gloved gueridons in the dining room, the delicate, custom glasswork from Kimura, Japan and 40 indigenous herbs sourced from the hilly mountainsides of Savoie, France – some of which are used to concoct the restaurant’s cocktails and teas. Restaurant Jag also offers diners a well-curated selection of French and world wines and boutique sakes.
There’s plenty to impress on the food front as well, with elegant a la carte dishes as well as three- and five-course lunch sets priced at $58++ and $98++. Here, you’ll get to savour Icelandic Langoustine with veal tongue, Pyrenees Baby Lamb and Spanish Octopus with salsify, bonito flakes and linseed. The same five-course lunch set is also available for dinner, but if you’re in the mood for surprises, opt for the seven- or ten-course experiential menus that are specially curated by the chef based on your culinary inclinations.
You won’t walk out of the restaurant empty-handed either. At the end of the meal, each table will receive a gift such as a signature bottle of olive oil made exclusively for the restaurant or a box of unique tisane (a type of herbal tea) retrieved from the Savoie mountains.
