The visionary and longtime Alexander McQueen collaborator’s new venture is limited to 12 creations a year
Shaun Leane, the jewellery designer best known for his decades-long collaboration with Alexander McQueen, is gearing up for a slower pace of life. By stepping away from his namesake brand, he has created 12, a new commission-only atelier that will create just—you guessed it right—a dozen pieces a year.
Perfect for the art collector seeking out fine high jewellery, body sculptures or objets d’art, the smaller scale will make room for something more personal, giving both artist and collector the time to create something truly special. Leane will be involved in every step, from the initial designs to the final presentation boxes, helped by elite gemologists and specialists along the way.

“For me, 12 is about creating these beautiful one-off pieces, these unique pieces where I have time to breathe,” says Leane. “When an art form has time to breathe, it can evolve.”
12 has, in fact, made its debut with a personal objet d’art—a stone headstone embellished with intricate flora and fauna, in commemoration of his late father. Other debut pieces include a sterling silver collar, designed specifically for Daphne Guinness, and a daffodil ring, which features a removable platinum and diamond design.
